FLASH VN, originally known as the FLASH Initiative, started as a teacher training project aimed at helping provincial teachers adapt to the significant shifts in education following the pandemic, amidst increasing online learning demands. The project originated from a prototype idea submitted to the ‘Project Pitch’ competition at the 2021 YSEALI Summit. FLASH won 3rd place and received $5,000 in funding from Arizona State University (ASU) to bring the project to life in Vietnam and Indonesia. In 2022, FLASH VN collaborated with Bosawa University, Indonesia, and the MIE Mekong Innovative Educators (MIEF) to successfully conduct three training sessions in Vietnam and Indonesia.
In Vietnam, the project’s message and activities resonated with schools and local education departments in neighboring regions, prompting requests for more training sessions in the Mekong Delta. To meet this demand, FLASH VN applied for the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City's Small Grant Program to fund Phase 2 of the project. Leveraging our earlier successes, the application secured $10,000 to organize additional training sessions across six provinces in the Mekong Delta. This phase also included scaling the project’s impact through videos, model schools, and competitions to reach a broader audience.
Through our local workshops, we have refined our programs, developd new initiaves besides providing training programs and built stronger partnerships. To pursue sustainable growth, in July 2023, FLASH VN has officially registered as a social enterprise: FLASH VN Social Enterprise LLC. In the coming years, FLASH VN aims to:
Advocate for more social funding, especially from governments and international organizations.
